A Johnny Drama Story?

I’m usually pretty late to things. I got a Playstation 1 when Playstation 2 came out. I was burning bootleg Dreamcast games while my buddy Drew was modding X-Box hard drives. So it’s no surprise that 5 seasons in, I find a “new” show to watch on Netflix, BoJack Horseman. I’m not going to give any spoilers, especially because I’m probably the last person on the planet to see this show. But something did stand out to me.

To anyone who has seen this show, the opening credits gave me an “Entourage” vibe immediately. As a hardcore fan of the HBO hit, I can instantly see similarities between intro’s. But the basic premise of the show, the words of the theme song, “back in the 90’s, I was on a very famous TV show”, it rang to my ears like the war cry of Victory, as told by the beloved fictional character on Entourage, Johnny Drama. Maybe I’m stretching. But the more I watch the show, the more I see it. And knowing that “Johnny Bananas” was Johnny Drama’s fictional cartoon series on Entourage, I think someone ripped concepts, attached Netflix and cashed in.

I watched it straight through in 5 days. And I must say, I’m still waiting to see Doug Ellin’s name in the credits.
